Seven flocks consigned a sparkling selection of Texel gimmers at the Twilight sale at Carlisle where an entry from the Beautry flock of North Yorks breeder Stuart Currie topped the sale at 5500gns.

By the 18,000gns Baltier Jaguar that took the Royal Show breed title last year, this gimmer headed big classes at the Royal, Great Yorkshire and Royal Lancs shows as a ewe lamb.

She is in-lamb to Seisiog Lotto – a 3600gns son of Stainton Inherit – and was bought by Proctors Farm, Clitheroe, Lancs.

They were in again to secure a gimmer at 3800gns from the Castle Douglas-based Douganhill flock.

She is by the 28,000gns Milnbank Jersey Dudeck and in-lamb to the 25,000gns Glenside King.

Joining her at 3600gns was a gimmer by the 10,000gns Haddo Jolt from North Yorks breeder John Mellin.

She is in-lamb to Springwell Jaguar – already the sire of a 10,000gns tup lamb at Lanark this year.

A great turnout from Robert Forsyth & Sons’ Baltier flock saw a 4500gns call from Aberdeenshire’s Margaret Lyon for a gimmer by the 50,000gns Craighead Hercules.

She is maternal sister to the 52,000gns Baltier King.
