Thousands of pounds stolen in farm shop robbery

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured and thousands of pounds was stolen in an armed robbery at a farm shop in Surrey.

Two men, one armed with a 10in (25cm) knife and another with a pole, entered the shop at Priory Farm, Nutfield, on Saturday evening.

A computer was smashed and a woman’s arm fractured as she tried to protect herself from the pole-weilding robber.

The men snatched the tills containing thousands of pounds and loaded them into a white Transit van.

Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst said the level of violence shown by the men was “incredibly worrying”.

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured but this incident has left all those who were in the store at the time very shaken.”

Both robbers are described as white and wearing black hats, gloves and scarves over the lower half of their faces, black jackets and dark jeans.

The man with the knife was in his 20s, of medium build, with dark hair and a London accent.

The second man was about 6ft, with medium to heavy build, aged about 50 with dark hair and a round, ruddy face.
