Camgrain has been granted planning permission to build a 90,000t grain store near the A11 trunk road at Six Mile Bottom, Cambs.

The new store will complement the farmer-owned company’s existing130,000t storage and processing site at Linton.

Hugh Wiseman, a director at Camgrain, said ‘This is great news for all farmers in the area. Individual farm grain stores are becoming obsolete and a central store is the best way to replace them.

“If we are to remain competitive in the global food industry, we need up to date facilities like this.”

The store will be built in phases. The first stage, probably 30,000t, should be ready to take grain from the 2008 harvest.
