Farmer and TV presenter Adam Henson has won the 2010 Farmers Weekly Farming Champion of the Year award, sponsored by the NFU.

Mr Henson is a presenter on BBC One’s Sunday evening show, Countryfile which attracts 6m viewers.

He appears in the show’s regular feature, Adam’s Farm, where he reports from his own farm on the topical, practical challenges he faces.

Judges praised his skillful explanation of a diversity of farming business issues and the empathy he expressed when commentating on the tougher aspects of farming life.

They also praised Mr Henson’s tireless efforts for farming.

He has travelled across the country as an ambassador for British farming attending almost all of the major farming and countryside events to chair meetings or promote the farming industry to the public, the judges added.
