The countdown is on to biggest event in the Young Farmers calendar, the three-day convention and agm.
This year it runs from Friday 23 April to Sunday 26 April in Torquay and thousands of Young Farmers from across England and Wales are expected to converge on the Devon resort.
The weekend has a safari theme, so the Farmers Weekly team of big game hunters will be out in force taking pictures, videos and covering all the news as it happens.
We’ll be taking thousands of pictures, so come and say hello if you see us in our distinctive t-shirts. And if we get you in our sights, we’ll shoot you (with a camera, that is).
One of the special events we’ll be running will be the FW Big Game Hunt. We’ll be hiding 30 animals in prominent places around Torquay. There’ll be six lions, six elephants, six giraffe, six zebra and six rhinos. Not real ones, obviously, because that would be dangerous and illegal and could make a mess on the pavement – but scaled down replica ones and we want you to see how many you can find. The team of Young Farmers that collects the most – and presents them to us at 1.30pm on Sunday in The Riviera Centre – will be named winners. FW’s photographer will take a photo of the winning team (at the time you present your animals) which we’ll then put on a specially designed FW front cover to give to you. Just think how cool that would look in your room or local pub.
As always, the weekend will be a mixture of the serious and the fun – there’ll be debate on topical countryside issues in the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Forum, for example (which takes between 11am and 3pm on the Saturday) and the national drama finals will showcase talented young actors from 2pm onwards on the Sunday.
Club t-shirts will also be a big part of the weekend, so come and show us yours and we’ll take a picture to add to Farmers Weekly’s website (we’ll publish the ones we like the most in the magazine, too).
Alternatively, if you’re really organised and want to get ahead of the game, you can emails a photo of your club shirt to firstname.lastname@example.org ahead of your trip to Torquay.
Look out for our special Farmlife section on 30 April.
See you on safari.
