Visited a number of dairy farms outside Kilrush today. The quota size ranged between 30 and 60,000 gallons. All of the clients visited had their quota full, with no licensed production capacity in the spring. With this type of quota size and all of the related overhead costs farm income would not support an average industrial wage. Many of these farmers are worried about the bills next spring and the fact that they are not receiving the milk cheque at present.
