• European Directives for quality standards in the dairy industry.

  On a farm visited outside County Cavan earlier today. A representative from Lakeland Dairies visited the farm. He had to carry out an inspection of the facilities on the farm in conjuction with European Directives for welfare of the animals, hygiene environment... • Deep anoestrus state in cows

  Visited a dairy farm in County Cork yesterday. 15% of the animals on the herd not being detected in heat. All of the animals were close to a deep anoestrus i.e they would not respond to progesterone treatment in synchronisation with prostaglanding treatment...   With a client in County Clare in Ireland yesterday who is a dairy farmer with 40 acres surrounding the house and rented land there after for replacements. He is faced with a situation how can he convert over to a strict grass base system. It is not possible... • feed for cows, dry matter intake,good quality silage

  Scanned around Newcastle, Co Tipperary, Ireland this week. young stock are out and about. There is absoutely no feed for cows- no grass. With the night frosts there will not be grass ahead of cows for the foreseeable future. This will give rise to problems...
