No rain.

No rain for us today.  Oklahoma got flooded, we got nothing, putting yours truly in a bad mood.

Mark:  You would be more than welcome to some of our sunshine.  Yesterday(Sunday) was cloudy and cool, only about 80F, making me think that today wouldn't be bad....we got the humidity from the Gulf along with 95F today, making this by far the worst day of the summer.  Working on my silage cutter I looked like someone had poured water on me.  Some huge storms have now fired to the west of us, the NWS has put central Kansas and Nebraska into tornado and thunderstorm watches, the question is, will the storms hold together to get to us, sorry for your wet weather though, seems like it is always one way or another, never just right.

Did you get your rain ? We 've had three really good harvesting days so I just wait for the contractor to bale the last 15 ac straw then the whole miserable job can be forgotten. Finished drilling the rape, combined the neighbours wheat ( pitiful yield of 1.6t/ac) and going on holiday on Monday. At least I got done with a day to spare !

3 tenths of an inch last night, all the rain we have had since I returned home on the 6th.  My corn and milo will be good barring no harvest problems.  The beans are critical now, need rain to fill the pods.  It has at least cooled off to the mid 80s today, maybe 90 tomorrow.  The main thrust of the harvest in eastern Kansas is just about to start, with early corn first, then full throttle with late corn, soybeans and milo, along with wheat to drill and cattle to pull off of grass.  From the middle of September to the 1st of November is the busiest time of the year around here.

Another 3 tenths this morning, along with 4 inches of lightening.  Hopefully we are starting to turn the corner and build up to a good rain.  Rain forecast Tuesday night and Wednesday followed by a Canadian cold front, should keep our highs in the 80s, IF we could just pick up another inch or so, followed by those cool temps, our battle would almost be over for this growing season.
