Swine Flu anyon got a better name?

Published 29 April 09 11:58 AM | the beast [Edit]

Aparently The US are looking into renaming swine flu to protect their pig industry (fearing people may stop eating pork). Anyone got any suggestions?

"The current influenza situation should be referred to as H1N1 Flu Outbreak."

Who said scientists were boring eh?

If this goes ahead 'pigs might fly'   - at least then we'll have a real case of swine flew (sorry)

Given how the subject has dominated the news media to the exclusion of any other bad news, how about Politically Expedient Flu

Heard on the radio this morning - WHO have decided that, as there is no evidence of any connection between the new virus and pigs, they will stop refrring to it as Swine Flu and call it by its propper name - Influenza type A, H1N1.

I can just see The Sun sub-editors falling over themselves to come up with snappy headlines based on that!
