Forums to gather pig farmer feedback on AHDB efforts

AHDB Pork is running a series of regional meetings to gather farmer feedback on proposed projects and the quality and relevance of its work.

It is encouraging pig farmers and industry stakeholders to attend the open meetings, which will take place in Wiltshire, Suffolk and West Yorkshire in May and June.

“These meeting give everybody a chance to have some input into the work of the organisation,” says Steve Winfield, knowledge exchange lead at AHDB Pork.

“Everybody is welcome to attend and we are interested in all shades of opinion – nobody has a monopoly on good ideas,” he adds.

It says attendees will discuss different potential approaches to improve KPIs and close gaps in pig performance in each region.

Through the meetings, ADHB Pork also hopes to improve co-ordination within the regions, encourage farms to work together to avoid duplication, collect new ideas and gather feedback on its knowledge transfer activities.

Meetings will take place on:

  • 18 May – Solstice Park Holiday Inn, near Stonehenge, Wiltshire
  • 24 May – Bridge Hotel, Walshford, Yorkshire
  • 14 June – Denny Bros, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
