    Re: anaerobic digestion

I belive there are now just over 40 commercial AD plants operating in the UK!

You can see a list on the registered ones at the NNFC web site:

    http://www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/ad-map

Both waste ones and on-farm sites

The NFU vision is for 1000 plants, so there is still a way to go to meet the vision.  The new government is also increasing its committment to AD having just agreed to 'Grandfather' the 2xROC's support it gives for AD produced electricity fed into the grid - any you get the free heat! (can also be used for refrigeration - anyone still got a gas fridge?)

    Hope this helps!

Check out www.recyclingwasteworld.co.uk/conferences they run an On-Farm Energy Generation conference which looks at the different types of renewables options open to farmers including Anaerobic Digestion.

    Re: anaerobic digestion

I work for PERA in Melton Mowbray, we are developing a new technology to improve the energy efficiency of anaerobic digesters and therefore significantly reduce the costs of running them. We need some samples from beef, dairy and pig farms (preferably in the East Midlands, preferably with records about what they feed to the livestock). We are also looking for a farm interested in having the new technology installed to an existing anaerobic digester.

If you are interested or know of anybody who would be please let us know: adriana.reyes@pera.com.

We would appreciate to hear from you

What kind of strategy you are planning for increasing energy efficiency of anaerobic digesters ? I mean a rough idea as it seems interesting to me!

One sensible question, and all five answers are adverts for something! I noticed the other day one of the spammers was targetting the renewables threads, we'll have to have some code in the titles to keep them from finding it in searches!!
