    apprenticeships

Hi i wonder if any one can help my name is rob im trying to find out about apprenticeships, i dont come from a farming back ground but have always wanted to work on a farm. i  work on a dairy farm on a weekend helping with all the jobs that are under taken. Im a hard worker love working with animals, and know its not about making alot of money. looking to do an apprenticeship rather than going to college as im 26 i still need to work, so by doing this i can work and learn the skills at the same time.

will be very greatfull for all your comments and help. many thanks.

     Hi rob

I would just keep doing what you are doing. You will learn a lot by just working on a farm and learning from other farm workers. Try and get some jobs on other farms as well so you get a different point of view as to how to do a job. See how you go from there and then mabey look for a more permenat job.

sorry to say that apprenticies do not get paid very much at all... even below minimum wage as its education, there is no minimum wage me thinks....

hope you do find what your looking for... but just alot of people want a straight farm hand, not wanting to so much put one through education... but are happy to start them off and help them out and give them experience... but its not so much an apprentiship as learning on the job.

although maybe someone else knows better than me....
