    Arable or Dairy

    Which do you prefer?

We have a big arable farm, and then a dairy too about half an hour away. Best of both worlds I'd say :)

I prefer arable at busy times when theres lots to do and your busy but prefer sheep rest of the time (yes i know, its sheep!). But i do enjoy milking the odd time as where i work we are completely mixed - beef, sheep, dairy, poultry, pig, veg, arable but i would rather be out in the field working instead of indoors milking to be honest. One thing i wouldnt like to work with in future is poultry, they do my head in...i always disliked pigs but if there was something i didnt have to work with it would be poultry.

years ago, on paper cows all the way but now in practice tractors for the simple reason it gets you away from the yard  and you can turn the bloody thing off, leader permitting that is....

Cash crop all the way but would rather be working for a custom oporater (Contractor) like i do naw as you are always buisey and if u are willing to work hard there is always for use mor work thatn we can shake a silage gang at. Milking is alright for the winter but with the new boss doing snow clearing in winter and 600+ head of beef to be dealing with theres plenty of other work havent evan fineshed feald work yet.

I do not post silly messages! I am so offended right now! lol

Slew. Small diggery thing. Google it. Or come away from posh land and you might learn something.

OH also I know of a cow born with no *** hole! It died pretty quick like.

This time of year is pretty quiet for the arable side of things though, nothing to do but sort out our track that one of the local contractors screwed up.

And I'm not being immature. We have 3000 acres arable and only 200 cows. Life is quiet for me and I need some kind of entertainment!
