That is an excellent cross, I would also be worried about the calving ease, so I would go for moderate birthweight bulls.  Limo on Angus is a good cross too, if you can stand how nuts the LimoX calves are to deal with.  Once again I will ask, why not Hereford?  The two best breeds for beef in the world come right off the British Isles, Angus and Hereford, I cannot believe how many Continentals there are in the UK.

    Re: bulls

the beef may taste far superior from Angus and Hereford bulls, but the carcass size and shape is far far superior from the contenintals, the markets/abbatoirs pay more for a bigger/better carcass and therefore dictate almost, what breed of animal many farmers breed.

what size are the cows? if they are big, well grown things a charolais or even a BB may be an option.

if they are quiet cows you could use a lim bull and the calves should not be too much of a problem- but i suppose you could get the odd mad one!

to a certain degree, where you live and what system your cows are on could affect your choice of bull- we find contentntal types are more 'nesh' than natives, they dont 'do' as well off hard land.

    Re: bulls

hello we have a herd of 200 cow  50% angus cows and 50 % sim cows and we cross the angus cows with a sim bull  and sim cows with a angus bull we get good sized caves from both crosses works well for replacments aswell good even bunch of calves at weaning to sell as stores with good feed back from finishers

there are good charolais bulls about  if worried i have been told that if you cut back on the cows feed intake 8 weeks before calving this  can limit the calfs birth weight and size just ask a vet if this is right as this may affect the quality of the colosterm hope this helps
