    Centre Pivot Mower Conditioners

Can any one offer me any help......

I've been on the look out for a centre pivoting mower conditoner, I know several manufacturers now offer them, my problem is i want a 2.5-2.8m (8'2-9ft) cut width. I have seen the kuhn offering and am very impressed by it, but the smallest they do is 3m.

I vaguely remember seeing a used JF machine somewhere which looked about right, but at the time thought nothing of it. I know that manufacturers will say that a machine of this size doesn't justify a centre pivot drawbar! so there probably isn't one, does anybody know differently? even a well used machine would suit.

As ever.... any experience of these machines would be well recieved, please let me know your thoughts.

Me again! You are right re centre pivot moco's. Most manufacturers now start at 3.0m/3.20m. We did market a 2.80m version until 3 years ago, but the demand simply dwindled in favour of larger sizes and combo' units. Unless your roads are absolutely under 3.0m, you can "steer" a center pivot 3.20m moco into most gateways. We proved this years ago by steering a 3.20m version from a 11' road into a 11' gateway. Don't forget that in transport, the mower is "centred" behind the tractor. Check this all out on the new JF-Stoll web site (just launched last week) www.jf-stoll.com You can download the leaflet in PDF format for all the relevant details.

Hello Martin  . . . . . Again! - any idea if there are any used machines about, condition not an issue, but good condition is best! if what i'm told is right, they are a similar bed to the kuhn, which i'm fairly familiar with. 8/9ft seems to suit our systems well as we cut for a few people (balers/foragers/wagons etc) most of which is small farmer owned equipment, so there is a requirement other than transport width!!

I'll speak to my people nationwide, to see if they know of any up for change. However they arn't often available. Spoke to a customer at Agri Scot in November, amd his is 15+ years old!, but still going strong, so no need to change. We do use the Juhn gearbox (bed) with our own discs, supports, stoneguards etc.

I have experience using centre pivot mowers, we have been running Kuhn mowers for fifteen years.  Before purchasing a centre pivot, we looked at various makes.  We bought a Kuhn 303 and went from 5 movers to 4, simply because the centre pivot prooved to be a great mower.  The acreage each day could be drastically increased!  I would recommened Kuhn mowers.  Second hand value: trouble free, easy to drive and centre pivot is such an advantage.  I dont think you will need anything smaller than a 3.00m, because it is so easy to manouvre round difficult areas.  I find it very easy to use and would never go back to the conventional way.
