    Dave 3, Redkite, etc..

It was nice to see LJ on the news tonight with reference to the Welsh coastal path. From the very short clip, I understand that he has won at least some respect and the path will have to go around his business property. With the knowledge we have gained from this Forum, it seems to me to be a fair and just outcome considering the amount of work he has put into his tourist business. If I have picked this up correctly, this is a good outcome for local businesses and farming in general. I wish him well.

No DONT Peter , hackles WILL be RAISED !

He was indeed on the radio this morning too. Good to know that HALF SWASTIKA footpath got diverted a bit, away from the CRUMBLING cliffs.

A true character who would never believe how much rain we had last month.

That was the sad thing about the man: he managed to irritate/bore almost all of us, but hidden under all the bullshit was a tenable grievance.

I always have the Today programme on in the background but as soon as I heard the words Wales Coastal Path my ears pricked up.  I turned the volume up and thought to myself "They wouldn't have Lyn Jenkins on would they?"  Of course they did and there wasn't an UPPERCASE thought expressed.  I was impressed!

Any way I can listen to it do you think?  I will always cherish the lengthy argument we had regarding straight line winds.  For those who didn't get to read it first hand I'll give a Readers Digest version(sorry MarkW).  In a nutshell, I brought up something my grandfather said about straight line winds, DAVE countered there was no such thing as a straight line wind(which in the most technical sense is true) and I believe called my grandfather something along the lines of an idiot.  I don't know about the UK, but we use the term "straight line winds" to differentiate from tornadoes, something completely lost on ole Dave.

You know, I ought to petition FW to let Lyn back on the forum...............I bet Mark will be the very first person to sign!?!

Kansas you can hear it on BBC listen again at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b01gvthc .  The feature starts at about 51 minutes into the programme and Lyn's contribution is about 55 minutes in.

    Re: Dave 3, Redkite, etc..

I have received the following with a request not to print the name of the sender. It was sent to me as the writer was banned from the forum some time ago. I have copied the text unedited.

    Dear Editor,
Almost 15 months after Ceredigion County Council officials  and a geologist from Hyder Consulting entered our property over  a locked gate, whilst we were abroad on February 10th 2011, to carry out a geological survey on the eastern cliffs of Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, Gwbert, we have been sent the Hyder Geological Report.  We had to apply for it four times under the "Freedom of Information Act".  Predictably, the council illegally and deviously withheld it until the eve of the Wales Coast Path's official opening ..... to prevent me from drawing attention to the report bfore the Official Opening  !!!
No wonder !! The Council's OWN  Geological report now states that the proposed Ceredigion Coast Path route on our cliffs must be moved inland , in the interest of public safety. That means that the Public Footpath Creation Order , which I have fought for six years ,cannot be implemented on the ground. Since  a Right of Way  is absolutely fixed , as shown on a Path Creation  Order map , the Order must be defunct !  SO I HAVE BEEN   RIGHT FOR SIX YEARS !!!
The LAW states that  a Right of Way  cannot be moved one inch without a new Creation Order !! And any  public path must EXIST on the ground, before a Diversion Order can be
     instigated ...MORE  FOOTPATH LAW !!
Furthermore, the Path Creation Order maps on our land , and for 80 per cent of the 63 mile long Ceredigion Coast Path are on an illegal 1:5000 scale , whilst the LAW  under Section 26, Highways Act 1980 demands O.S maps of 1:2500, which I used to make as an O.S Cartographic Surveyor in the 1960s.Laughably, the council 1:5000 map shows the path over the cliff-edge on our coast !! The footpath line on the map must be  precise  according to LAW !!

How is it that the Ceredigion Coast Path is allowed to flout the Council's own Safety Statement , re-iterated by  Planning Inspector Blackley ;  Lord Justice Carnwath and by Judge Patrick Curran in a High Court Judgment....  that "the Ceredigion Coast Path would be closed if it comes within 2 metres of the cliff edge"?........and there are 2 INCHES outside it at Mwnt ......and there's a foot outside the  coast path at Borth , according to MP Mr Mark Williams ??

How is it that  essential , legally-required , Construction Design and Management Regulations [CDM] were not  implemented  to construct the  other 62 miles of the Ceredigion Coast Path, whilst the council's own Hyder Report makes it clear that CDM would be essential to construct a public path on our land ?? .....Unbelievable  !!
Amongst all the TV hype on the All-Wales Coast Path [ which does not always hug the coast !!] , the LAW has been totally ignored......most certainly in Ceredigion !!
      Y GWIR YN ERBYN Y BYD  !!!
       Yours faithfully,

I received other material which was difficult to follow but was not specifically asked to relay that on to readers via the forum. However I expect the sender would not mind my sending it to old friends who request it from me by email. (that way I can simply do a copy/paste and reply.

    Re: Dave 3, Redkite, etc..

He must be mellowing, no CAPITALS until the second paragraph !

I recently walked many miles of coastal path in Cornwall.  200ft cliffs and a lot of recent landslip. In one place the path was closed and diverted inland for 2 miles for public safety. In most cases there was nothing to prevent stepping over the sheer drop....apart from common sense suggesting that it might be fatal. I didn't even see a disclaimer sign from the local authority. Wherever the path had subsided into the sea walkers moved to a safe distance inland and in such cases the difinitive footpath moved with common sense and not the law. Who could argue against that ?

KF, I'll sign your petition if you get He-His-Self signed up first.

He must have been banned before I started using this forum but it sounds like he was very annoying ? He must live within 50 miles of me, yet I'd never heard of him except on this forum. Isn't that strange ?

He also went by the name of 'Don'. He has a valid point with the coast path, however spouts some inordinate bullshit regarding wind developments in mid wales affecting his tourism business in cardigan

WnW he is based just outside Cardigan:

I think he used to advertise all over the place but seems to have gone quiet of late.  I remember 3 or 4 years ago seeing a pile of big bales by the side of the road outside Trecastle with his web address splayed across the bale wrap.

Thanks for the link Townie. We have a few friends farming in that area but I've never heard them mention LJ. This leads me to believe that he can't be as annoying in 'real life' ?

Well HHS, are you going to join my effort to bring Dave back?  You, Mark and I could be the start of something special.
