How about we have a permanent post on FWi with up to date drug prices? There seems to be huge variations in prices between vets and drugs are one of our biggest costs. If everybody posted what they were paying locally it would make negotiating much easier.

Some charge more for drugs and less for time and V V so you would have to weigh it all up before you changed

But it would be nice to know if you was being taken

As an example we used to pay £26.00 for a bottle of Terramycin LA but when a new practice opened nearby the price suddenly fell to £13.00 but the new practice was selling it for £7.00 or a fiver if you paid it cash so how much was the margin on our stuff originally? And the call out charges weren't especially cheap either. I'd rather know the real price of the drugs and pay the vets time at a fair rate without all the smoke and mirrors

We're paying £8 for a bottle of LA Terramycin. There are different rates for different farmers around here. All depends how much you buy through the year, so it seems.

I think we paid a bit less but that was for 20+ bottles and pay on collection. I think it's about £12 for one bottle. Our vets are giving good discounts for cash and carry, especially big orders.

Good stuff, but wouldn't it be interesting to know the price of all the drugs. Next time I get a vets invoice in I'll see what else is on. I think we were about £15-£16 each for 100 autoworm first grazers.
