If I were to allocate my setaside area to land on which I intend to grow miscanthus, I understand that I would lose my energy crop payment , would I also lose my miscanthus establishment grant?

You are correct.   You will lose your energy crop payment, but you would be able act use the land as set-aside for ever.

You would lose the annual payment but you can still get the establishment grants.
