    EU organic logo

Don't know if you are aware but the EI is asking people to vote for the new EU wide logo which will be used to denote organic food. It is a choice of one of these three. I can't say that I am overly impressed with any of them. What do they say? What do they mean?

I think they are all crap. Will this be shoehorned onto the packet alongside other organic ie Soil Association, labels? Not going to be much space left. Another "jobs for the boys" waste of time - why dont these political wasters get off their backsides and actually do soemthing useful.

btw I dont want to buy food from other EU countries, organic or not. If they cant even buck up and label meat products witht the true country of ORIGIN then whats the point?

Take the dough and stay real jiggy.
    Uh-huh.

The first one is clearly symbolic of England leaving the European Union

The second one someone's foot has slipped off the brake pedal  in CAP expenditure

The third one seems to say that if you should be smoking six cigarettes whilst standing in three feet of water a bloody great bull may come along and remind you about Isaac Newton's theories on gravity.

    Re: EU organic logo

I suppose the leaf shaped twelve stars has the merit of alluding to the EU logo, but I can't say that any of them would intuitively say 'organic' to me.

I am. however, intrigued by an unknown acronym - EI - who they?  I tried the Wikipedia disambiguation which came up with several possibles, but the most likely seemed to be Extreme Ironing.  If you check this out, however, it seems far too exciting for the EU and is probably one of the things on their list to ban, or regulate out of existence.

Eventually I came across this EU site.  I think the first headline - Ready, Steady, LO-GO! probably says all you need to know.  Apparently they had 3422 entries from art and design students and whittled them down to these three as being the best.  Makes you wonder what the others were like, doesn't it?

Apparently the new logo is to replace the existing one, use of which is voluntary.  The new logo will be compulsory on pre-packed organic produce originating from within the EU, by which I take it to mean that it will be illegal to sell it to unwary shoppers who may have thought it wasn't organic.

Just in case anyone is wondering how they have missed noticing that there was actually an existing EU organic logo - you can see it here.

Thanks for that ploughshare, you have actually made them memorable Smile

I agree with Claudia Frost and will probably vote 'No'.

I thought the third one was a hieroglyphic (is that how you spell it?) eye-test chart?

If you can't work out that it is organic pasta twirls on the bottom line then you need glasses....

the first is all about the 12 (star) step program to reduce your addiction to anything that does not have this logo on it ...the second is a representation of the sincere listening ear of the organic movement that does not hear any of the other sensible arguments for sustainable food production...the third one reminds the buyer not to eat meat but eat more vegetables and cereals to helpfully reduce the possibility of drowning in the rising waters of climate change...all are complete rubbish and instantly forgettable.

The first one reminds me too much of the EUSSR and what it stands for and how it rules our lives.

The second one looks like a road map for how the EUSSR operates, twists and sharp turns without warning then doubling back before driving into a cul de sac.

The third looks like it was drawn by class 3(a) (subsection ii) in one of the EUSSR's state co-operative workers early learning centres for  masses.

Those logos aren't exacly inspired choices are they?  Yet another waste of taxpayers money! Congratulations EU ...  They're too fake, if it's going to be Organic then make them look more natural instead of some terrible computer images that look something like a twisted ear, nettles and a 'spot the diffence' that you'd find in my first picture book!
