Gloucester Root Fruit & Grain Cultivations Demo

Are there any other FWI forum contributors who visited the Gloucester Root, Fruit & Grain cultivations demo at Tewkesbury today? For those that didn't, all the 'majors' were represented and it was most interesting to see the various pieces of kit being used on decent sized plots on what cn only be described as very heavy wet land. There was talk at the demo that it would be a bi-annual event and that it could become 'The Cereals' for the South-West which I would very much like to see... Fed-up with always having to travel to the east. Any thoughts or views?

Where was it advertised, I would have jumped at the chance to go if I had known about it.

Yes Jim , it was a brilliant event. Good test of the kit plenty of machines working , no traffic jams and free entry. We received details of it from a local machinery dealer. It was not publicised much to my knowledge. Speaking to one of the organisers , the thought of moving from a local demo organised by a committee of volunteers to a major trade show with all that would entail was felt to possibly be a step too far. As far as the kit was concerned, I don't know why anyone would want to plough with a telehandler, but all credit to the Merlo which certainly showed what it could do pulling 5 furrows(?) memory a bit vague.

As far as I know it was not, just word of mouth and flyers in the dealers.

If you were looking for a true single pass the Solo was doing the best job, but it was slow and needed loads of power. A much better option was two passes with an hour so between passes, then the Carrier and the Horsch tined cultivator were both doing a very good job.
