I first heard about the 'Pegasus' tractor was in the US during 1998, talking to mid-west farmers who were interested in our Fastrac. It was rumoured then to be a 250hp+ fully suspended machine, ridgid framed, but looking a bit like an artic. The aim was to produce a tractor capable of field working speeds of 12mph (not a high road speed tractor).
The JD dealer I spoke to in the US told me (in 1998)that the Pegasus would probably go onto the back-burners and more R & D would go into the rubber tracked tractors over the next few years.
A fitter from a local Deere dealership had another sighting a couple of years later and was told that it was a test bed for components and drive systems.
