Hello,
I am currently studying Animal Science at Nottingham University and I am in my second year, after taking a gap year after my A-levels at school. I would love to be a Vet and I first applied to study Veterinary Medicine during 6th form, where I was unsuccessful in gaining a place. I then took a gap year, acquired some more work experience (in Ghana and India) and got a job at John Lewis which helped me build my confidence and people skills. I then reapplied for the course and was unsuccessful again. The only option for me then, was to study my back up option at University- Animal Science, which is a research based degree which I think has helped teach me the foundations of animal physiology, nutrition, immunology and farming.
The degree is a 3 year course, and I would now like to try and apply to study Veterinary Medicine as a postgraduate. The applications start in October 2012 for entry in September 2013, and I feel that this is my last chance of getting into the course.
I would love to have some experience of lambing as I feel it is the only sector of the industry that I have not had experience in, and it will really help strengthen my personal statement for the application.
I have plenty of other animal experience too.
Thank you for your time,
Punit Rawal
