If the tractor is new then all servicing should be under warranty or that's how it was on our 6465 the dealer serviced it as part of the warranty to keep the warranty valid so i'd have thought that it should be nil but i may be wrong...

Conwy reply was very intresting ,the invoice for doing the 50 hour service on 5445 was just over £190 After contacting the dealer they agreed to credit 25 lts of oil costing £56 there was no charge for labour  I still think it is a bit steep. Any comments from massey men this is our first new mf

i have an 5455 series tractor, it be cheaper for me to get the filters and oils

and its due 400 hours service and i'm getting an local agri mechanic with years of experience to do the service.

( and does anyone has trouble getting the bonnet back on the tractor or is there an technique to it)

apparently you have to have it serviced by a massey dealer if you want the warranty to still cover the tractor this might just be a load of crap but ours was serviced for free ie we had to pay for the oils and have you got the tier 3 tractor with single piece bonnet or tier 2 like oue 64 with three piece bonnet

I wish I could get 25 litres of oil for my car for £56.

I have purchased from 2 MF dealers from new, I was charged for service parts & oils but not labour for the 1st service then parts & labour after the 1st. A dealer will charge dependant on how the retail sale has been done & what you have agreed upon at point of sale.

Best way I have found now to fix my costs is buying a service & repair contract for my intended life of the tractor. I know where I stand for my service & repair costs for 3 years 4000 hours use & as my tractors are dealer serviced I am backed up by my dealer & MF if I have an issue. I hear MF now offer 5 years 2400 hous extended warranty on tractors over 165 Hp & you can add hours for a small additional cost. This is the way for me!!
