Milling our own grub for our ewes.

I have taken the plunge and started to mill our own food for our ewes. At the moment I am putting 60% barley, 20%beans and making the rest up with coarse mix. All the ewes are heptavaced and are due to lamb 7th of feb onwards. A friend has even suggested doing a 50/50 mix beans barley. Been used to feeding cattle so trying to be cautious.

Would suggest you add plenty of vit's and minerals especially formulated for in lamb ewes.

Agree with that, also if I were mixing feed for ewes I'd definitely add some sugar beet nuts. Excellent for digestive system and high in sugars to reduce risk of twin lamb disease and acidosis, also very palatable.

We have made our own for years out of our own grain and beet pulp, a bit of mollasses to stop the dust and some sheep mineral. Wheat and oats seem better than barley but whatever you have will do.
