reallyy want a volvo estate as a second car, noo idea why,

except the truck drinks alot, 

volvo's rear wheel drive,

it looks cool

holds plenty of stuff

fair fuel economy

cheapish

but how olds too young for a volvo ?

just think , you're be everybody best mate,especially in the yfc, ferrying all those drunks about

or is it just going to be an work vehicle, and it won;t leave the farm,

 well i have 5 seats in the truck, so same amount of people can get in really....

I am having a bitt of a job finding the aplication for it, i guess it will be a more 'social' vehicle in the fact ill go out in that and use the truck for work.... but i want a vehicle thats able to work, if need be, because ill probably use it for long hauls around the country to pick up od parts etc.

And noo idea what models are what yet, only just started to peak my head into the volvo world   but ill look out for what you said, i want a square shape rather than the curved jobbies, estate and diesel, and probably late 90's

And Leather, don't forget the leather!

Years ago the Sunday Times did an article on seduction.

It was found the E type Jag , was the best car to attract a young lady, but the Volvo estate was the only one with any room in the back, once you had attracted the attention of a young lady.

Personally l would go for the Volvo, as l  am getting old and decrepid, and there is a chance in a confined space l would put my back out and require the fire service to cut the roof off to get me out.

PS don't laugh, it happened to a fella who was taking the baby sitter home, not sure what he said to his wife

 so check the suspension when you buy, and iff possible, fit some heavey duty springs

If we put solid panels on the back windows and weld a floor plate in where the back foot well was. We can run the estate cars as a commercial van (cheap tax). Is it the same in the UK?

Why not just buy a diesel van ? You could even run it on Cherryade as opposed to Lemonade......get my drift ????

 yea, but then you dont get the street cred of the volvo

but as i was saying, this would be a 'going out' vehicle, because ill always have my truck to do the work, as it needs to pull, go off road, carry ***, etc etc.... so a vans just a second work vehicle thats not as good as the truck... this car would be for going out, but has to be able to work, because it will do the odd job.

If you can get a van to stay with a Volvo estate or even better an Audi estate (A4 4WD Quattro or the A6allroad) let me know!! You can use recycled cooking oil instead of Cherryade. Dilute it with a little home heating oil if needed.

fuel wise... you know, at one point i was reallyyyy considering going down the bio diesel route... looking at a seven grand plant, but then you'd have to put that in about 7 grands worth of  building... so your 14 grand down... plus the labour cost, and thenn the actual seed itself.. I'm thinking the plant might be worn out by the time you get your money back.

AND theres many a vehicle that cant take biodiesel anyway.... too thick and deposits. Plus i suppose you mayyy loose horses...

BUT there may be a way of affording this. if you put in for a grant, from seeda or similar/assosciated programs... so the goverment can pay you the money to start  making your own tax-free fuel

You can pick up early models in the Audi range worth the money, but the insurance is expensive. When you mention "Turbo TDi" they just double the price. They are really well built and a pleasure to own. We run several 1.9TDi diesels and all are very responsive.

Would you consider putting in smaller bio plant just for your own use? If you had a good source of used cooking oil and a few tanks (1000litre cubes) your good to go. But your right older engines do run better on it. (even the odd tractor or two)

 seven grand is for a small plant for my own use yea, their of a fair expense....

and i was thinking more oil seed rape.... cooking oil is even geting up 50p a litre sometimes... its crazy

volvo estate are for men who have 5 dogs to ferry around, dress in tweed and no girlfriends in site

 may be good at pulling women, but no good at pulling trailers, and carrying all my equipment unfortunatly... or ferrying around people, and sleeping in

although, my truck, she pulls women like you wouldnt believe

We can still get the cooking oil for taking away. Never tried the oilseed yet. The Smarts are really quite. Mercedes built and very easy to run. You can even change the colour at home. But you really need to get on with the other passenger. The thought of spending a long journey with someone you had an argument with, could lead to internal panel damage.

I think the Audi Estate would be a nice compromise between the Volvo and the Smart. A lifestyle estate!
