The most important consideration is to compare like for like. It can be easy to discount a model without knowing the full facts. Obviously we are biased but we truly believe that if you compare the full specification to any other trailer on the market then you cannot beat the Marshall QM Range.

Large cubic capacity to not only carry the stated weight but hold it as well, commercial axles as standard on 14 and 16 tonne models, precision chrome rams, unique chassis design combines unmatched strength and stability, new design front inspection ladders - which also protect the front headboard from stone chips, protected lights integrated into the back rail, flat floors (no open pressed sections that allow water to prematurely rust out joints).

Simply put the QM range is the best quality monocoque trailer on the market available today.

I would have to say that the marshall trailers are ok but having used one for many years they to stand up well, althought the side are starting to show there age and the bed of the trailers is starting to rot out a bit. We currently use West silage trailers. Most other farmers and contractors in the area are also using West's as there silage trailers. I would definity have a look at there trailers there nice on the road with the sprung drawbar and arent to heavy in the feild.

It has to be trailers by Redrock Engineering (info@redrock-engineering.com). Secondhand value alone would make you go back time and time again. As for ownership buy it and forget about it, it just works. No gimmicks just good strong reliable craftsmanship.

"but having used one for many years " - with this statement you are probably referring to the Marshall EM Range which was superceded by the QM Range and has been revamped twice, the latest being January 2010. You will probably find a number of advancements and better features since the EM Range. As you appear to have had good service it would be at least worth a look at today's models.

Bailey trailers i think are the best, they are not cheap but are very strong can have many different options, so far paint is top notch! Cheap trailers fall apart rust out and have poor resale value. Richard western trailers are good also. Just buy a british trailer though.

where i work we bought 2 new 15t stewarts last year and are ace.i'd go for Stewart trailers, maybe not the cheapest but build quality and paint is second to none and back up is excellent and for silage work where loads can be top heavy sit behind the tractor and wont think of moving.

We run a couple of 14 ton richard westerns good strong build and travel very well on the road, also have a '92' marshall 8 ton with full silage sides to move muck lasting very well seeing as its had  muck in it every day for the last 12 years only thing its ever needed was a new ring recently.
