    Norac boom levelling

Anyone using the norac boom levelling on a bateman sprayer, is it worth it?

Is it a VG boom or a conventional boom? We are the distributor in the UK so I could put you in touch with other users if you want. Derek Johnston Precise Solutions GPS Ltd

Yes its a 30 metre VG boom on an RB26, workin at 100L/Ha at 3 bar on blue VP nozzles and finding it hard to maintain boom height and keep the speed up to cover acres, end up been exhausted after sprayin 500-600 acres, can manage to steer it and turn off sections but keepin the height right is a challenge, surely inceased efficacy of chemicals would justify outlay. Any figures on how much it would improve? If you had contact details of someone who is using it that would be great

I could give you contact details of users, so could Bateman as they have installed a fair few at the factory. My opinion is if you have a VG boom on a Bateman if you are not impressed with the performance of a Norac system then there is something wrong somewhere...... You could call either Bateman or ourselves at 01228 562234 Thanks Derek Johnston

Does the Norac system also fit Bertoud self propelleds, we are on 32 m tramlines spraying at up to 16 kph would it still work

We run them on our three RB55's with 36m vg booms. They don't half make a difference and take alot of the strain out of the day. Ours is a three sensor setup (one on the rear and one each side about three metres in). The centre will lower the whole boom down to the correct hight then the outers sort out each side, you can even raise one side in manual and have the other in auto. I will however say if you are spraying later in the season when crops ar taller, especially osr turn off the centre sensor and set the main boom height manually or it will try to go down cause it thinks the top of the crop is what has just gone under the sprayer chassis and is lowwer than the true top of the crop.

I take it from your name your on the fens, how do they cope on sidebrows and narrow valleys, its impossible to handle them in a valley. Are you using an airbag, does it interfere in any way?

Hi Debird. We don't use airbags but as the sensors on the outer booms are foward facing i don't see it as a problem (we used to run kindersoft's on our previous rb 25's) but you might have problems with the rear centre sensor, as i said before this one doesn't like taller crop movement so airbag draught might affect it. Precison solutions might be able to shed more light on that one. As for undulating ground we put sincronex on to unleveled ploughed work at foward speeds of 6-10 kph no problems, but they do recomend in the bumph that for larger booms to site extra sensors on the booms closer to the centre (say on the 12-24m section) for wider booms with undulating ground, but we travel most of east cambs and west norfolk without any hasle just running the three sensor setup.

The norac system can be retro fitted to any machine, precise solutions would be the people to talk to, there is some issues with hydraulic output and boom design but nothing that cant be sorted. i would have to improve spraying and reduce fatigue, thus increasing workrates
