    redrock handlers

hi has anybody had any experiences with these we're looking at one which is 160hp, we thought this would be useful to replace the ageing loading shovel that works on the re-cycling biz, we looked at this in place of a out an out shovel as it can be used around farm a bit more,it loks good but dont know about them at all, or if anybody knows of a machine like it

they are made over here, but beware.neighbour got a new one,bit iffy, replaced it with a bigger one and redrock bought it back off him at less than 1yr old at about 7k loss.

thanks, suprised to hear that as they look well made but guess you cant go on looks alone, not much available in this sector looks like going for a loading shovel again , they are great at loading pushing up but we were hoping for something bit more versatile

It may be worth looking at JCB TM 300/310 good powerful machine. One around here makes a fool of a 414 shovel loading muck and clamping silage.

    Hi ya

I sell Redrock handlers in oxfordshire, have sold 5 to date very strong machines capable of high hours, first one i sold is now 3 years old with close to 7000 hrs used on dairy farm, some minor problems when it was new but sorted them out and it runs very well, customer used to have manitou which was okay but only lasted 5000 hours and just couldn't handle the pace and broke down quite alot.

Trying to get customer to buy new one but he won't change it, says it drives better now than it did when it was new and there's nothing wrong with it.

     Hi,

Not an easy desission, but we have had a jcb tm270, then a manitou mla, then a jcb tm300, and now back to the tm270, shes 9 year old with 7000 hours and would put the tm300 to shame. the boy we sold the tm300 had a redrock, she burt out over night, well he said she was scrap! hadnt enough power for her weight, clumsy and visability was poor... We wernt sure on the manitou at the time because she was awkward to get into and out, but looking back on it she was great at every thing else, and would be are next shovel if we changed.

Ner cast yer clout till may is out!

Have you looked at Schaeffer? They've got some machines (and there's a larger model coming out at Agritechnica) - have a look on their website: http://www.schaeffer-lader.de/en/index.shtml?navid=0 and they're supplied in the UK by Cyril Johnston http://www.cyriljohnston.co.uk/farm/fsearch.aspx?c=17&spct=Loaders&pg=2

    Hi,

    What about smaller machines ? We're thinking of a Manitou 627, Merlo 32.6, Deutz 26.6 or a Bobcat 2566.

Which is best ? Manitou is the most expensive but the rest are hydrostatic drive......not so good on hills?

    Any thoughts?

Manitou 627t  very good basic machine with good access to engine, sound transmission and axles. never seen a Deutz. Bobcat and Merlo will not be as good build but will be cheeper and won't hold their value as well a few years down the line.

I also sell Schaffer but in oxfordshire, currently have a 6390T in stock. www.aandrhandling.co.uk

did you have to remove diff pinion housing and build it up with weld so pads locate better?

It really is a bad design they should use oil immersed brakes like every body else.

I thought from what I read that the other buy in their axles etc from specialist companies and they don't. Or am I getting muddled up with Zetor and gearboxes.

i believe merlo manufacture their own axles, manitou, new holland, CAT, Dieci use clark hurth, JCB use international transmissons for gearbox's and axles, john deere used clark hurth and ZF axles.
