Is this The Archers for the 21st Century?

Rural specialists George F. White have today announced the launch of a new ficticious blog which it hopes will make it easier for people to absorb professional advice.

This almost real life farm blog will follow the lives of the fictitious Swale family on their two farms one a livestock and one arable. The blog will demonstrates how the family tackle the challenges of planning, stewardship schemes and climate change and even what their children get up to at Young Farmers.

I thought it was an interesting approach - it is a bit like the original thinking behind The Archers ie parcelling up need to know info in a way that is easier to digest.

They say: "The blog is designed to reflect the issues that are relevant to many working in rural businesses. We hope that farmers will read this and see that we can provide them with help and recommendations when they’re facing similar problems themselves. Our team is qualified to give expert advice on a wide range of issues from planning regulations to grants to tenancy agreements and the blog will provide an initial starting point for discussions on these topics."

Erm - If it weren't you that had posted this, Isabel, I would have suspected it was an advert.

Ooops! Partly because I copied and pasted a bit from a press release. I just thought it was a novel idea. First time I had heard of it.

Come on Isabel, Hillary has been peddling fiction for years now. (Just could not resist it sorry)

Oooh ...just imagine if they started writing DEFRA policy papers in the style of Austen, but with the flourish of Benn.

Isabel, you have been spying on my latest reading material. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains" Can't wait for the film version. A sort of Regency Shaun of the Dead. PS Hillary has all the symptoms as described in the book of someone bitten by a Zombie.

Which Austen characters would we all be? Herself reckons Darcy for me but does Wickham have more fun. Colonel Forster? Colonel Fitzwilliam?

I'd like to see the Archers told in the style of "Fanny Hill" with Alice Aldridge as the main protagonist ;)

Take the dough and stay real jiggy.
    Uh-huh.

Wickham has fun but does end up landed with the awful sister Lydia. I would stick to Darcy. Or how about Bingley?
