Who else is having trouble with their JCB 434s hydralic system?  And who else is getting rubbish service from JCB?

No, I thought Joseph never made a bad thing in his life. What trouble had you with the hydraulics?

The machine had 700 hrs on it when I purchased it and the previous owners had the same problem.  The tilt rams would sag when the lever was not being operated.  Jcb were initially were not keen to sort it as I was the second owner (It has got an extended warranty) and they said the problem was not bad enough.  It was dangerous the problem could only be internal ram seals or the sporle valve.  Eventually JCB came up with a fix they fitted a dead valve on the line.  This cured the problem but has made the control of this service terrible.

The machine is generally ok and we are clocking 2000 plus hrs a year with it, it drinks diesel but what JCB does not!  I just wish they were more professional when faced with a problem.

    Hi.

You are not the first or the last pearson who has had problems with a main dealer, but saying this you are in the right area in finding the fault with your JCB. One thing that I do not understand is the cure they came up with by fitting a "dead valve in the line", more info will be very helpful in finding a permanent cure to your problem. Different year same problems!!

We have 4 JCB teleporters,(531.70. 536.60. 2X 536 70) all less than 3 years old and around 2000hrs or less each. 3 were bought new from 2 different dealers and 1 bought secondhand, but maintained by the original supplying dealer. All of them have had far too many faults which are proving very expensive once out of warranty. The quality of the dealers varies a lot, but the real problem is very poor build quality. This results in major repairs to front axles, fuel pumps, electrics hydraulics etc. When you complain JCB try to impy that we are unusual in having all these problems, but it seems that lots of people are having similar problems!! What have other people really found?

The dealer we have is very good I think the problem is with JCB its self.  We had 3 JCB products and are now down to the last one the 434s which is just hanging on!  Its such a shame that JCB don't treat their customers better.  You should try the Claas Scorpion teleporter its awesome puts the JCB in the shade.  We are looking at replacing the JCB 434s with a Liebherr L556.

I hope Claas have uped their game with their Scorpion as a local contractor had a brand new K50 and a new 976 both of which were sent swiftly on. Non stop bother.

Not a fan of JCB flifts/loading shovels the excavators are good those who i know who use them say that the construction dealers are better at service/spares  and general helpfulness i would try them.

The new claas Scorpion is made by Kramer they seem to have a very good reputation.  We have now done 920 hrs in 6 months with it and its fine alot better than a JCB !

The Claas is a good tool espesialy in very tight spaces, a bit of a rough ride but all in all pretty good, and claas back up seems to be about as good as it gets, area dependent obviously. As for loading shovels liebherr are just about the kiddy, probably the best bit of kit on the market, the trouble you will have is finding a dealer. Your machine is only as good as its driver and back up unfortunatly, I do know that jcb are quite reluctant to sell 434s for what ever reason i dont know.

    Re: JCB

Good luck with claas if any thing goes wrong they will just blame you or kramer, like they did with the locking pins on the old 928 their backup was awful (my dealer was great by the way). I will never buy a loader of those money grabbing arrogent Germans again. JCB on the otherhand were very good when we had problems with a  526-56 and they replaced it. Claas couldn't care less they refused to acknowlage there was even a problem and only did anything about it when we threatend to cancel a tractor (the1st claas in Wales). They didn't take me serously and now I write things like this about them.

    Re: JCB

I find myself in a similar position with JCB so I probably think this is a large company problem.  It is a fact that they have a percentage of customer loss each year factered in, but it would appear some are keen to use up every last percent!  As for my claas scorpion it is a great machine it has had a few niggles but claas have been very professional.  Good luck with your JCB I think you will need it!

    Re: JCB

I agree that the build quality on the JCB is not what it used to be and I hear very good things about the claas, but with us it was a case of once bitten twice shy. How is the second hand value of the claas loader standing up? I haven't seen any about yet. I hope they don't go the way of the tractors.

They are very expensive and only time will tell what second hand value they have some are coming up and the values are looking good.  If the product was not kramer I would not have purchased with such confidence!  They have been out to my JCB 434s again today action at last but I think the damage is done and JCB will not be in my shed for much longer.

    Re: JCB

Is it a JCB backup problem or a dealer backup problem? The local dealer with us was good but it could also be that your local JCB service rep is a bit of a muppit, but they do say JCB don't like to be told.

    Re: JCB

I think the problem is with JCB not our local dealer they are very good.  I just don't get JCBs problem they have a good product with a few problems that are easy to fix if they work with the customer but they would rather stick their head in the sand!

    Re: JCB

Alot of companies are like that, they seem to almost dislike their customers. I dont know what is the matter with these people, perhaps they need to look at the quality of their staff.
