    redundant yipee

I'm about to be made redundant at the end of the month. I know I should be sad but well, I'm just not. I want to work on a farm as a housekeeper. My dreams never were huge. Maybe it's a mid-life crisis coz I am 47. I don't much care where in the UK I go because my kids are all up and grown and settled all over and they are (all 3 of them) having a great time. Empty nest syndrome perhaps. I'm all eager to get my boots on and the wellies are packed already.

So if anyone needs a housekeeper/gardener/handywoman/computer aid/cook/handyperson and can provide accomodation then I'm your man... so to speak.

    Re: redundant yipee

Hi Palm, Sorry to hear about the redundancy. I was unemployed a number of years ago, before I started farming. Its not so bad at the start, but after a while it can be hard to take. It was a few years before I got up and running again. A learning experience as you can loose so much more than just the job, contact with friends, work colleagues etc. So be prepared for a shock to the system.

On a more positive note, I have no doubt you will find exactly what you are looking for and will be wondering why you didn't make the change sooner.

Hi Palm, I've no doubt that with your attitude you won't be unemployed for long. People who are willing to get their hands dirty, so to speak, and willing to try something new like yourself are hard to find these days. Good luck.

Let us know how you get on !
