i have an grass roller and i need to transport it 2.5 miles down the road, we have an brian james trailer which will take 2600kg max weight. and i havn't got a clue how heavy the roller is,

I very much doubt if its heavier than 2.6t, but Fatso be gentle and you'll be grand. You have come across the concept before, haven't you?

If it feels to heavy on the towing vehicle (I'm guessing a 4x4 Iveco) go for plan B, take it off.

Don't go trying to beat speed bump records and stay away from the potholes.

 

Hi there, i've carried a 8ft water filled roller in my 2.6 ton gross trailer, behind my pick up with no problems at all. Just make sure you get most of the weight over the axles, also i put the chain hooks in the side edge lip of the drum as it's better to lift it this way.

 8 foot rollers, being normally split into two one ton tanks with almost 1000litre capacity

 

how ever ive taken rollers 4 miles down the road before, around four different corners of a village, then back home

Sound's like a good idea......why hasn't it been done before ??

 because hydraulics are easy and quicker, a pull of a lever rather then unhtching, towing over then re-hitching.

and no-one likes to use a truck for work... but i do, and the reason im using top mounted axles rather than hydraulics is its easier to brake them.

....and there was I busy in the workshop......now I'll be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life !
