    Claas Jaguar 690sl

Thinking about buying a 690sl (late 1980's) forager at the minute as we only have around 70 acres of silage per cut and should be ample for what we want, had considered a trailer harvested but would prefer not to go down that route.

Was just wanting to know what to look out for when we go to look at it, did this model have many faults or any particular issues . plus what sort of speeds could it handle your average 20foot sward at ?

    thanks in advanced

I run a 690sl and have very few problems with it.But I think the 90s machines were modernised. Put 600ac through mine last year and the only stoppage was the accelerator box coming loose. Metal detector is essential. Test by feeding tin foil into feeder rollers. Should stop rollers.Engine very reliable but heads can become porous. If machine well serviced should be no prob to handle 70 ac in a good day. Twenty foot swathes at 5-6 mph.
