Plans to sell Cumbria College Farm.

Pentalk e- petition. Please can you help us by siging our E Petition

    On the Pentalk website www.pentalk.org.

Pentalk deplore the  recently stated intention of the University of Central
Lancashire (UCLAN)  to sell the Newton Rigg farm, Sewborwens, and we call on
the  Board  of the University  to  fulfil its  obligations to the farming
community of Cumbria and those in the land-based industries, by withdrawing
this  proposal to sell the educational farm.

We also call on the University Board to be mindful of the special needs of
farmers in our  Cumbrian community  and the vital importance of skills
training in preparing farm businesses. Farmers are a key driver of   the
Cumbrian  economy and they  have looked to Newton Rigg for over a hundred
years for expertise ,guidance and training. It should be so again and there
is no reason why, given proper planning and a good partnership with farmers,
UCLAN Newton Rigg could not  again be the centre of excellence it once was.

Please can you support our E Petition by clicking the link below and sign

Re: Plans to sell Cumbria College Farm.

It is my opinion that this initial attempt at a Cumbrian farmers e-petition addresses many issues, not just saving the college dairy farm. It is a chance to prove to our critics that we can stand as one and are a strong enough sector to speak out where we see bad policy and hopefully make a difference in Cumbria. As one of the most important dairy and livestock areas in the UK the future policy of Newton Rigg Agricultural collage is of paramount importance to all livestock farmers in the UK - at least!
This should therefore not be seen as a Pentalk initiative, but a rural UK wide initiative as it could affect the future of rural Cumbria and the Lake District for all.
With that in mind, I ask you all to take ownership of this e-petition, and promote it through your own channels, neighbours family and friends.

There is a clear link to the e-petition from the Pentalk.org home page, but if you are having any problems with this then please contact me.
