    Red Mite

AAGHH!! the Red Mite are back. After winning the battle all summer using Poultry Shield on the Arks and Red mite powder on the birds and their bedding I have a heavy infestation of Red Mite once again. I keep around 150 Laying Hens in 4 seperate wooden arks, which are cleaned thoroughly and sprayed once weekly.I have used Fycam in the past but am a bit wary of it,probably fine in Huge Poultry houses, but only with suitable protection and empty houses? would appreciate any advice! Spot on control would not be the easiest thing either, and quite distessing to catch up each bird(for me and them!!) Creasote is hard to find.I suspect that the answer may be to invest in Plastic Hen Houses,It is almost impossible to spray every crevace in the wooden ark.Am scratching as I type!

I would really appreciate any tips....

My flock have been plaqued with red mite for the last 6 weeks, i done everthing possible, but now have the instant cure, Use "Fly Strike" purchased at any decent pet shop its cheap only about £3.70 sprayon the whole bird, its instant death for red mites, I also changed my housing and burnt the old ones, now I have a lovely lively flock, all back from the brink of Deaths Door...

I took the hot pressure washer to my chicken house yesterday, but half hour later little blitters were still there. so sprayed jayes fluid  then dusted. picked up china egg to put it back in clean house and found it was full of red mites.

so went and purchased new one, goint to plug up hole in end this time. and no doubt the war will carry on next weekend.

Have tried jeyes, vinegar, barrier powder and today resorted to parasene..... I painted on to the perches and watched as the little blighters shrivelled and died!  Have burnt all the bedding , i hope this will get problem under control.
