Robot milking at the dairy show

Been off out today to the dairy show at the bath and west showground, and was interested to see the Lely Astronaut demonstration.

I give full credit to Lely for not picking a bunch of cows that are perfectly suited to robots, and using a small bunch of about 20 average cows.  They were on a deep sand bed in loose housing.  Most of the demonstration was as a robot milked herd would be on farm, and not put on for the show.

While I was watching the cows, a cow with rear teats touching one another went into the robot, and I was impressed but the cluster attachment on this cow, so well done to Lely for a good demonstration.

Only thing I would have liked to have seen was for the lame cow (only mildly) to have been shedded off into the small pen after milking, even if she was just let out into the main pen by a person, just to show what the robot could do.  This was not done, but may have been becase the robot was not told to shed off any cows
