    Rollover crates & pregnant ewes

Hi, am new to fwi space and wondered if i could get some advice. Im needing to trim and treat feet of some 4-6wk pregnant ewes. Is it ok to use the roll over crate to do it? Not wanting to do harm if theres any doubt.

I am no vet, and this advice is possibly worth what you are paying for it.  We used to turn all of our sheep in a sideways turning crate in the week before Christmas when they were due to lamb from March 1st.  I don't remember any truoble, obviously we were calm and cool about the whole thing with the sheep.

Much better to deal with the blighters in the lambing pens after lambing we think now although by then some may be a bit too limpy to send outside straight away.  If you can't wait try a footbath - make them stand in it or at least run them through a time or two and stand them on dry concrete (if you have some - I have) for a half an hour or so to let it soak in.

If your sheep are only 4-6wks in lamb(ie.from tupping time) i'd leave them well alone unless any really crippling ones as the stress of gathering and handling will cause embryonic absorption. After most ewes are 7wks in-lamb it would be safer to handle them and the rolll over crate wouldn't do any harm. IMHO.

Thanks for your replies. Rollover crate is a godsend for someone like me (lightweight shortar*e) at work especially for doing the tups and the bigger ewes. I'll leave off doing them for a couple/three weeks.
