Has anybody found a way of deterring Rooks in particular, from late planted autumn crops or early planted spring crops, that does not involve killing them ? !!

If you don't want to kill any find an already dead one, Split it up and spread the sections. Rook's are clever birds and won't venture near. unfortunately they aren't deceived by fakes. This does not work for Pigeons

Errr, what's wrong with killing them? P.S. Are you the "real" Simon Boughton? ie yellow ski jacket, no hill to steep?

GOOD Point Killing Rooks or people in yellow ski jackets. BOTH? I've been told their not to good to eat. I like vegitarians, with a good gravy

A few vegitarians in yellow jackets running around on the spring sown may keep the rooks off. David W.

Did You see Country File they did an operation on a Rook to save its wing after it had been shot. Some TOWNY VETS NEED TO KNOW HOW TO KILL THINGS. It doesn't cost an injection !

You can purchase a helium filled kite which is effective. However I would rather shoot them, as just moving them on with a kite tends to upset your neighbours as the rooks then lay into their crop.
