You looked after your guests extremely well with good food and drink, interesting and enjoyable entertainment and then a presentation session that went so well and finished on time – what organisation!!"You had a great bunch of finalists and it was good to see them all at the Awards. Ian Ashbridge was the host on my table and he looked after us all very well indeed. Please pass on my thanks to him.Kind regards and many thanks again for a splendid evening.

travelled up with Clinton Devon Estates from East Devon to support our
friend George Perrrott who was running for <strike>President</strike>
! 'Farm Manager of the Year'. We knew it was going to be
quite some bash as best glad rags were the order of the day however I
can only describe the Awards as the Oscars for UK Farming. What
an amazing priviledge to attend and what with George winning, our crowd
went absolutely ballistic (see the pics on the website !) on hearing
the news - it willtruly be a night to remember and go down in the annals of excursions out of East Devon forever !

Our
sincere thanks must go out to all who instigated the Awards and all the
hard work and dedication that has been applied to such an occassion
achieved with such pomp and ceremony. 2007 has been an incredibly
tumultuous year for the UK Farming Industry and this is just the lift
that it has needed. It is so very fitting to see individuals within
their fields receiving the recognition for their dedication and passion
for their industry, our congratulations go out to all those runners up
and winners alike - well done.

Jim & Jeanette Pyne

Ps.
Rumour has it that George promised his wife Rachael a new horse lorry
if he won ! - we'll keep you posted if he's true to his word !

And the fact that we (almost 1000 of us) were celebrating the best of British agriculture made it even more enjoyable. All the finalists deserved a prize and the category winners were the kind of people we'd all like to be. As for The Farmer of the Year, the overall winner, John Geldart, he was at last recognised as the star that he is. Well done all of you. And well done Farmers Weekly for arranging it all. Perhaps the magazine should get a prize as well.

Awards

What an amazing night out the FW Awards was. This is exactly the sort of event our industry needs to show everyone that despite all the problems we have we can still smile in the face of adversity and we will come out the other side stronger and better than ever.

Farmers Weekly Awards 2007 - tonight is the night

The 36 short-listed farmers will tonight find out whether they are winners in the 2007 Farmers Weekly Awards (follow the link to find the shortlist). All the finalists deserve congratutulations - the fact that they will be there shows that they are demonstrating innovation and expertise in challenging times (and for the livestock sector these times are VERY challenging).

This thread is for people who attended the event to leave their thoughts and for others to leave messages for the winners.
