    Scrap Metal Prices

    Has anyone got guide prices on scrap metal either ex farm or delivered to the scrap merchants?  Heavy iron, light iron, cast iron, aluminium, or copper please

    our scrapmans just been round awondering if we had any thisafternoon, forgot to ask what his prices were, me dad was talkign to him mostly. he was offering £5 for big batteries as well

    Last i heard, copper was at about £3500 a tonne, not sure about the rest though

    my son took 1.6ton of mixed steel into the scrap yard and came home with 205 pounds.

    looking at 3 generations of scrap out and arround the farm, i could be a millionaire!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    went to a scrap yard to swap an oxygen bottle yesterday morning and enquired about heavy steel they said £170-£180 a ton, the guy said it had dropped alot in the last week or so. soemoen i was talkign to said it was about £70 down this week and likely to go futher down

    I have 3000 yards of three phase copper wire in the insulation sheath. Any advice?

    from what ive seen and been told iw ould get it down the scrap yard as quick as possible if its going to drop. im not sure how much extra you get for it being stripped from the insulation but if u have time i think it would be worthwhile doingso.

              I agree, Bluetooth. Peter, if it gets stolen it will be worth nothing.

    Best heavy iron, not rusty tin, has been £220 a ton delivered, but this last fortnight has come back  to £180, I was told that it is going to China via ship from Liverpool.

    Demand in China has dropped as the blast furnaces being shut down for a month for the olympics, hopefully price may come back up when they fire up again.
