    single farm payment

I read in the Farmers Weekly interactive, with no pleasure, that there are only 87 farmers that have not yet been paid 2005 sps, as one of these farmers I have begun to wonder if we will ever get paid.

we have been chasing the RPA every week for a year to get our claim sorted and have on several occasions been told yes it is all sorted out and you will get the payment within two weeks, we have been repeated told this since june last year,

On monday this week I contacted them again and was told that we had recieved payment back in August I assured them we had not and after some investigation they agreed that we had'nt and would you believe it they said payment will be with you in two weeks for 2005, I then ask what chance we had of getting the 2006 payment and was told that this should go through without any hitch when I ask if I could quote them they said no but it should be paid shortly.

our claim was verified as being ok in March last year and no one can explain as to why we have not been paid, perhaps Mr Milliband should look closer at the system.

Dreadful situation William. Sadly i can only offer you sympathy. I do have a friend who is one of the other 87 but his is a relatively small amout. It was incredibly frustrating chasing my own payments upto the day before interest became payable last year, you must be heartily sick of it. If we had failed to pay our taxes on time interest would be charged from day one and unauthorised debit interest can attract  8% over base, not what you`re going to get i bet.

One thing to be positive about is that to have survived for this long without payment you must have a good business, a well paid spouse and an understanding bank manager. Well done to you.

That is disgraceful. I'm sure your MP would take it up on your behalf (particularly if he is Tory ).

    You have my sympathy.

I am not in your situation of recieving no money for 2005, I had an advance payment and then recieved a modest top up which was way short of what I was owed. I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall trying to get this money.

I thought I was one of about 600 who were waiting for it to be sorted out. I couldn't believe it when I saw in FWI last week that there are 25,000 people Either under paid or over paid. What chance is there of them ever being able to sort that out.!

We have recieved an advance for the 2006 year, but we wont get the final payment for that because we are out standing for 2005 and so it goes on.

Have you tried getting outside help in your battles with the Rpa .Had similar problems with them  found that the TFA and the rural stress information  network (024 76  412916 )     are very helpful  . It's a waste of time ringing the phone line ....you need to find contacts who can access the system at higher levels .The two above organisations I found excellent at this ....
