Can you elaborate? Wheat, barley?
Wheat - possibly. Red or white wheat can be sown now but will need to go into good warm seedbeds otherwise the rooks will have all winter to rip the seed out of the ground. I never enjoyed planting winter wheat varieties after sugar beet in early December. With really high seed rates we could do ok but never yield as well as an October sown crop.
Barley - I doubt it. Better to go into a good seedbed in February/early March where it can get up & away. Sitting iin the ground makes the seed lose a lot of vigour.
The problem with sowing now is that the days are still getting shorter & the soil temperatures are dropping. Not an ideal start for a seedling.
You will probably curse when Jan/Feb/March is wet & cold whilst it seems good to go now. If that's the case you will have a lot of rotten seed in the ground!
