The WAG has proposals out for the changing in the exemptions for pre -movement TB testing of Cattle. This will have a devastating impact on the number of cattle at Shows. All cattle at shows will have had to be tested within the previous 60 days. The main issues will be the cost involved and the impact on the whole farming business should one of these show animals react and trading therefore prohibited except to slaughter. In S Wales the commercial producers who are the mainstays of our shows simply cannot take the risk especially as testing for the later shows could result in them being unable to partake at the valuable Christmas markets. So cattle numbers at the shows are doomed to decline. What a sad day for the agricultural industry.
