    Triazole use this spring

I realise this news is a few weeks past but the differences in opinion between Brooms Barn and Syngenta, both are well respected within the industry but have very different views on the number of single active applications this spring, where epoxiconazole is used in many mixes - in Ennobe, Brutus, Ennvoy, Eclipse, Ceando or even straight, i'm sure there are more, I realise this is dependant on disease pressure this year

I think there needs to be clear guidance on this - -who is correct?

With Syngenta releasing a new fungicide for septoria and rust called isopyrazam soon I'm sure this is perfect timing ...

One area we all agree is that triazoles need to be protected for the future.  There is actual agreement on:

    ·         Use with alternative modes of action eg. Chlorothalonil

    ·         Use at robust dose rates

There are many different combination of mutations in Septoria that could alter triazole performance.  Individual triazoles are affected to different extents dependent on the mutations involved.

On this basis some recommend mixtures of triazole and some alternation of triazoles.  We recommend alternation since generally the biggest single factor affecting the speed of shift is the number of  applications made.  Similar to grass weed resistance – the more applications of Atlantis you apply the greatest the probability of resistance development.

Actually even with the launch of our new chemistry (isopyrazam) we will recommend it with a triazole for addition curative effect and for resistance management.   Chlorothalonil will also feature in the recommended programmes.

If you've got any further queries on application, do email me: edwina.wood@syngenta.com

Bravo has to be the base for any fungicide program still.

As far as I can see, epoxiconazole is still the benchmark, and in a way what sets the fungucide prices ;)

Still, wont be using any here. Get good enough results with mixes of older and cheaper chemistry.

Take the dough and stay real jiggy.
    Uh-huh.

I agree with you both, bravo is still the base + epoxi then depending on how much rust is about some metrafenone maybe,  if its going to be a big rust year like they say it is those with oakley or simillar are going to have to pay close attn.

I quite rate Helix (spiroxamine + protioconazole) + Bravo. And also Tracker (epoxiconazole + boscalid). They are my two more expensive choices. The spiroxamine and boscalid adding something to the whole program thats not 100% trizole + strob.

Take the dough and stay real jiggy.
    Uh-huh.
