    Welgar AP 83 balers.

Hi, does anyone know much about them? All i know is they are expensive and all shalf drive and bang bales out like nothing else!

Would a old 1980's be worth having and what could go wrong other than gearboxes? Got a New holland 376 but i need a second bigger machine to follow combine swathes.

     Thanks for any advice.

How will you know before you try it?

If it drops 10 knots in 100, will you be happy?

Might wait until you have a bit to bale and hire it for the day, see how it goes and then decide.

In my limited experience, bearings and the like can easily be mended, but dropping knots well, might be more difficult/expensive to cure.

It's 300 miles away from me. The reason i am interested is that it's cheap so may be worth having. I've be told that it ties ok so if i have to spend a few hundred fixing it up it should be sound.

The welger knotters are fairly bullet proof as they only hve 2 moving parts. No stripper arm to remove your finger nail when u get a tying problem. The knotters are easy to set up and clean ready for the season. Only thing i would want to know is the codition off the ram rollers and knives as these can be expensive. If the price reflects this and you have a good baler guy near you to replace them you will have a good machine
