    Windows for chickens

I see that Morrisons has become the latest retailer to insist on windows for even its standard broilers. The word that keeps coming back to me from grassroots poultry producers is "what a waste of time and money". I'm not so sure. I've always been really impressed with the Frredom Foods units I've been in - but maybe I'm just seeing it from a human perspective and not a chicken's perspective.

What draw backs have you (or anyone else) come across. I'm told there is sometimes an issue with heat loss

Is that because the chickens tend to congregate there in higher density, or for another reason? Can't imagine heat loss would be much of a problem. Most of your heat loss is through the roof and by far the biggest loss is through ventilation. If anything you might get a problem with solar gain heating the sheds in warm weather, I'd have thought.
