The wood pigeon population population is now estimated at 17 to 18 million and all because of the enormous increase in the acreage of oil seed rape. A thousand single pigeon can eat up to one one ton in a week and that could be your crop! However, the farmer’s dilemma is to ensure the gun he invites to protect his crop does less damage to the crop than the pigeon. You can reply to this post and I will arrange to call on you and introduce myself. In the meantime this is what you can expect:I can be contacted on my business FREEPHONE or on my mobile I have been shooting all of my life. I am a member of a pheasant shoot and also a member of the Pigeon & Pest Control Club. If you have a big problem more guns can be called upon.I carry full public liability insurance cover via my membership of BASC The British Association of Shooting and Conservation i.e. £10 million Legal Liability Cover.If permission is agreed I will book the day PRIOR to going out, by telephoning you or e-mailing the day before. If you have a more immediate pest problem I am available at short notice by contacting my mobile number.A Vehicle Stickers will be carried and displayed at all times when out shooting.My vehicles will be parked so as not to cause any obstruction to farm vehicles and other users. I will not in any circumstances drive onto any crop or along ‘tram-lines’.Dogs are not used.Guests will NOT be taken unless it is agreed with the farmer prior.Only smooth bore shotguns to be used.Only the crop being protected will be shot over and great care taken when placing decoys so as not to damage the crop.I WILL SHOOT ONLY FROM MY HIDE (I WILL HAVE A PORTABLE HIDE KIT) and no damage to hedges or crops will be encountered. .Only woodpigeons, feral pigeons, corvids and rabbits to be shot unless otherwise stated by farmer.Under no circumstances will empty cartridge cases or litter of any kind be left on site.Any damage to property, crops etc. will be reported to you immediately. Also the discovery of empty cartridge cases – by other users DO REPLY - YOUR ENEMY IS MY SPORT
