Young Farmers: Blackpool 2008 The cost and the highlights?

Anyone who was in Blackpool should have seen the FW team out and about sporting our ‘We’ve got it covered’ T shirts. A lot of you said you’d like one of these (in fact, someone managed to end up going home with Paul’s!) – so here’s your chance to win one.

Simply briefly tell us what the highlight of the weekend was for you. We’ll publish a selection in the mag and three of these will get one of these T-shirts. Washed, obviously, as they’re rather messy!

How much did you spend in Blackpool?

How much cash did you get through at the agm? Let us know the total but excluding your ticket, travel there and hotel.

    • Under £100 (20%)
    • £100-£200 (40%)
    • £200-£300 (20%)
    • £300-£400 (20%)
    • £400-£500 (0%)
    • Over £500 (0%)
    You voted for '£100-£200'.

I've listed a few of my favourite moments in the Field Day blog, but I think the top one has to be the outing Isabel and I made into Blackpool town centre on Saturday afternoon to make a video of the agm.

We got completely mobbed by young farmers at one point, but the funniest moment was when Tom from North Somerset YFC tried to show us how you should really go about presenting and filming a video. Obviously we've all been going wrong in the past for not including inflatable sheep and guitars...

     I guess I can't really win FW a t-shirt for this can I?!

Ah yes...the lovely Tom....who was very insistent on trying to insert into the video that he was an international calf dealer.

We were hoping to see him on the Sunday night (he'd dyed his hair pink for the evening) but he failed to find us! Big Smile

    Where are you Tom?

    Re: Young Farmers: Blackpool 2008

.... my sunday night...despite not bein able to go the disco because i didnt have a wristband! Sad we had a very intresting evening... we decided to walk half an hour to a brewers fair as the night before we drove there and lost our parking space...so we walked half an hour in this direction >>> from our hotel ... while leaving the pub our club chairman rang us up sayin to come up to the cornwall hotel becuase they we having a big party to celebrate .... so we walked half an hour back to our hotel <<< then half an hour back past winter gardens<<< then half an hour to get to cornwalls hotel <<< ...stayed about 10 minutes until we fell asleep on a sofa and the fire alarm went off .... as i was to tight according to my mates to pay for a taxi (which i was because it would have cost 2 pound) we walked for an hour back to our hotel .... i mean 2 pound vs an hour walk .... what a saving! my brother had gone to bed on the way to cornwalls hotel as we were setting off at 7.30 on monday to beat traffic.... so me Gary and Emma got back to our hotel at 11.30 ... we set an alarm on our phones ...then at half 2 me and emma got a phone call from gary and my brother steve to ask wether they could sleep on our floor as the hotel next door was playing very loud music.... so we agreed and then had to share our tiny twin room with them ... my brother stole my bed and me and gary got the very hard floor only there wasnt enough room so gary had to sleep in a 3foot wide gap in between the beds and i had his feet on my pillow and my feet flat against our bedroom door.... such a pleasent evening!!

I would have paid the £2 too! Sounds like an interesting evening - if somewhat complicated. Big Smile

    Barry the Hoover

My friends from Ashley YFC in Staffordshire donned their fancy dress outfits on Saturday, Bannana man, Superman, Borat, Danger mouse and Where's Wally. They then went to visit neighbouring county Shropshire in their hotel for some drinks and friendly banter. However, the hotel bar staff refused to serve them. In retaliation, they "aqquired" a hoover and brought it back to our hotel. It was christened Barry and offered a pint. Barry quickly became the fastest pint drinker among us with his record being 3 seconds. We then offered him sherry, which he spat out. "He's been sick, Barry has been sick!" Was shouted among the members. Barry then became a legend and is well known among Staffordshire, he is safely at home with the Ashley chairman and he will be visiting our annual rally this weekend. (Other events occured with Barry but these are not suitable to print!!) Check out his facebook group "The Barry Blower Appreciation"

Hope my little tale amused you, the photos should!

Someone kept on talking about Barry to me on Sunday night and I didn't have a clue what they were talking about! Thanks for explaining! Big Smile

I reckon the guy who dressed as Borat should win a t-shirt for sheer bravery (and to keep him warm next time he decides to wear that outfit!)
