We had a really brilliant Jubilee party in Acton Scott last night, the whole
community turned out, all the children received free celebration mugs, there
was a hog roast for everyone with all the trimmings and really delicious
puddings. We all went up to the field next to the Church for the Jubilee
beacon, one of 4000 and officially part of the beacon chain. There was a
choir singing in a beautifully lit and decorated marquee as we waited for
our Beacon lighting time. Celebration cake was offered to everyone, about
200 attending, and the cake was courtesy of the Daily Mail as it was won as
a competition prize sponsored by the Mail at a street party in Pimlico
earlier in the day. The person who kindly shared it with us all had been in
London earlier in the afternoon. As the Beacon burned down and after the
fireworks everyone went back to the Village Hall to party well in to the
night.
