"What people don't seem to be mentioning is the welfare problems being caused by such regular testing of cattle. It is stressful on the animal to be rounded up every 60 days to be tested. It is something that needs to be considered.
"I do think - being half in agriculture and half in a countryside management role - that if there is a cull it would need to be carried out carefully. The vital thing would be to check that we were getting infected badgers - because if you have badgers on the farm but no TB, then you want to hang onto those healthy badgers."
